The start of live stream shopping was a huge boom in the market, especially China and the neighbour countries in Asia where they have been using a specific type of platform like WeChat and Kakaotalk as well as LINE.

As of recent stats, Taobao is †he world’s biggest eCommerce platform and they have a live stream shopping app that lets thousands and various types of entrepreneurs to sell via live streaming and this is a C2C type of transaction. In 2018, AliExpress a company under Alibaba launched AliExpress Live and it is reported that the platform managed to get 320,000 goods added into carts/ 1 million views which when come to think about it is an extraordinary rate. In 2019, Singles Day rose to fame and it is known as a holiday and live stream shopping in TMall generated €2.6 billion in sales.

Taobao predicted in 2021 live stream shopping will have more than 500 million sales and not only jewellery, fashion, beauty and children section are getting the sales, even agriculture are also feeling the heat, getting sales from farm products that has a great impact on agricultural workers.

While it is growing really fast in Asia with the rate 46.4%, it is still a slow growth in the US and Europe. In 2019, Amazon and Wayfair launched live stream shopping and a handful of brands joined.

Kohl, a makeup brand was one of the first few that uses live stream shopping, where they stream runway shows in 2015 NYFW and offers viewers the choice to shop the garments they see during the runway through a portal.

Dote, San-Francisco based mobile shopping start up also releases a feature that uses influencers to live stream inside the mobile app.

Kim Kardashian also partnered with TMall and Viya, a famous host of live stream to promote her KKW Beauty perfume. This live stream shopping managed to sell 15,000 bottles in just minutes! It also manage to grab over 13 million viewers.
